Weather warning: Sunday 12 April

April 10, 2026

Riders are advised to avoid the Hūnua Traverse this Sunday due to the forecast damaging weather.

High winds and heavy rainfall are a potent combination on the clay soils and steep terrain of the Hūnua Ranges Regional Park, causing slips and fallen trees.

Once the weather system has passed the Watercare and Regional Parks team will complete a track assessment and any ongoing closures will be advised here. Stay safe out there.
