Trail Status - Open  7 days a week until late 2026

The news you’ve been waiting for…

November 19, 2025

From Thursday 20 November, the Hūnua Traverse rolls back into life as a 7-day-a-week adventure!

After a long pause for essential pest control in the Hūnua Ranges Regional Park, we’re thrilled to swing the gates wide open once more. This temporary full reopening is thanks to a delay in nearby forestry works on Keeney Road. When those operations resume (expected Jan–Feb 2026), access will return to weekends and public holidays only.

So saddle up, breathe in the green hush of the ranges, and enjoy every gravel-crunching mile.

* Campsites remain closed until Monday 24 November.
* No dogs permitted in the park for approximately six more months
